Mike Loukides is Vice President of Content Strategy for O'Reilly Media, Inc. He's edited many highly regarded books on technical subjects, and is a coauthor of Unix Power Tools and several other books published by O'Reilly. He's particularly interested in programming languages, system and network administration, and the ethical use of data and artificial intelligence. He can be reached on Twitter (@mikeloukides) and on LinkedIn. He's also an amateur pianist; if you look hard, you may to be able to find some recordings online.

Mike was also the acquisitions editor for one of the books we're featuring today, namely Programming Quantum Computers: Essential Algorithms and Code Samples, by Eric R Johnston, Nic Harrigan and Mercedes Gimeno-Segovia. The book provides a hands-on programmer's guide to understanding quantum computing. Rather than labor through math and theory, you'll work directly with examples that demonstrate this technology's unique capabilities. All code samples run in the browser and are written in the QCEngine language, the simple high-level JavaScript-based language used throughout the book. Translations in other quantum computing languages, such as IBM's Qiskit or Microsoft's Q#, have also been added (in the book and to the interactive website) so that examples could also be run in their simulators or hardware.
