What is a Title 1 school?

-Schools and districts in which at least 40% of the total student population is recieving free or reduced lunches.

What schools in MCCSC are considered Title 1?

• Arlington Elementary
• Fairview Elementary
• Grandview Elementary
• Templeton Elementary
• Highland Park Elementary
• Summit Elementary

Each of these schools have Title 1 literacy labs as well as Title 1 teachers. These teachers work with the children in
effective interventions such as literacy groups and reading recovery to improve literacy skills.

School Choices

The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 requires schools to show annual improvements in academic achievements of the overall
student population and of identified student groups within the general population. If adequate yearly progress is not made for
two consecutive years the school is put into "Improvement Status"
Currently one of the MCCSC schools under "Improvement Status" is Fairview Elementary. This gives students who attend Fairview
Elementary the option to attend another school in that district. The schools available to transfer to are:

Transportation to the school of your choice is covered as long as Fairview stays under the "Improvement Status"
