Why The Read 180 Program?
-Did you know that 28% of our high school students are reading at least 1 year below grade level?
Read 180 is a reading intervention based on effective research for teaching and learning, integrating the major components
needed for attaining literacy at the adolescent level.
Students will participate in:
There are currently 145 students participating in the Read 180 program. We would like to accomodate all of the children
who do not pass ISTEP. To do this we would need more funding. There are approximately 1,340 students who do not pass the ISTEP
every year. To accept all of these kids into the Read 180 program we would have to increase our funding from 145,00 to 1,000,000.
With the current funding we only accept 145 students each year, but as these students successfully exit the program, other
students can be accepted at a minimal additional cost to MCCSC of $30 per student.
