Wanted:
Volunteers to be trained as Transition Navigators for the Monroe County MCC WorkOne Transition Program.
The Monroe County MCC/WorkOne Transition Program aims to facilitate the transition of Men and women from MCC to successful self-sufficiency in the community.
By connecting the inmates to supportive programs, and addressing multiple issues such as, substance abuse, housing, employment and health among others, the transition program aims to enable the inmates to accomplish, upon release, a self sufficient lifestyle within the boundaries of the law enjoying the basic human privileges
of “Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”
Volunteer specifications:
To volunteer a commitment of 3 hours weekly volunteer time within the MCC facility is required. In addition another 2 hours of Telephone and meetings with service providers and employers, 5 Hours weekly, Schedule is highly flexible.
The training will be comprised of Social work practice issues, Employment Support and Criminal Justice issues. Full attendance of the training is required to be eligible for certification as a Transition Navigator. Certification is a prerequisite for volunteering.The training will be conducted jointly by the Monroe County MCC and Monroe County
WorkOne, Disability Program Navigator Grant.
Volunteers must be willing to undergo a criminal background check.
