Lectures and labs

Our main textbook is: Essentials of Programming Languages, second edition, Daniel P. Friedman, Mitchell Wand, and Christopher T. Haynes, MIT Press, 2001.
The book uses Scheme as a meta-language with which to explain concepts. We will use Ocaml and Java. Both languages have good quality implementations that can be downloaded to your personal computer as well as excellent online documentation.
The OCaml library is easily accessible from http://caml.inria.fr/ocaml/htmlman/index.html
